June Update

A Red Kite soaring against the clouds.
The Red Kites around Leeds are still camera shy!

Well folks it's just short of a month since I last posted here, and about the same since I posted to any of my other blogs. The reason for this is a combination of ennui, partly brought about by difficulties I'm experiencing with the Relevant Social Media UK blog, domestic/personal upheaval, lack of paid work and just generally having a crap time of things lately.

To be honest I'm hoping I've turned the corner on everything other than the blog situation - it has definitely been hacked at some point and at the moment I can't even log on to it so I'm going to have to squash it again and set it back up. Another possible course of action is changing the hosting.

As for the domestic situation I have moved from my previous domicile as I had more than over stayed my welcome and am now in a studio flat which would be (very) generously described by Estate Agents as "compact". It is far better than many of the alternatives but needless to say I'm looking for somewhere else as soon as possible whilst kitting this place out with as much as I can.

Events this week have been mixed but the best thing I've done in the last seven days is without doubt making it to a training session for a business venture I've been considering for quite some time. I'm not going into too much detail here but I will say it involves Fitness and Nutrition and is something I'm very keen to start the ball rolling with. I've been in communication with someone from the company for about 6 or 8 weeks now and it was good to put a name to the face as well as get a very good idea of what the business side of things will entail. More on this very soon, God willing.

My youngest daughter is in St Kitts & Nevis at the moment with her Nan on a visit with my Mom and a big chunk of my side of the family who she hadn't met before so I've not seen her in a while now. My First Born has just returned to college too so she has been quite scarce.

Well folks I must go for now as I have absolutely loads to do today and am behind schedule slightly already. I will post here far more frequently from hereon in, particularly since this is meant to be the place where I can vent my spleen if needs be and am quite certain it will become necessary before too long! know I say this every time but this time I mean it and, since I have less places to post to, am far more likely to stick to it. So, wherever you are and whatever your circumstances just try to stay upright, give thanks to God and enjoy life.

Hacker Attacks & Compliance Problems

It's a Classic!

Well a month has elapsed since I was last here so I thought I'd better post a quick update on progress, or lack thereof, since the last time I was here. I guess I'll start with the shoulder since that was the topic of my last post. I was able to rest it fully for two weeks in a sling and in the third week I started to take it out for a few hours per day. I have totally dispensed with it now and have my long awaited first physiotherapy session tomorrow but I have started doing exercises which target the shoulder already. I'll be interested to get some more pointers tomorrow as the ones I know are more specific to the previous tear rather than this latest injury - acromioclavicular separation if you've forgotten or not read the other post.

The blog at http://relevantsocialmedia.co.uk has been down for over a fortnight and having had a professional look into it on my behalf it turns out it was the subject of hackers! I've no idea who would want to do that so I really hope it's nobody that I know and that I was just unlucky. I've been busy trying to learn as much as I can about Article Marketing and I've had limited success so far. Needless to say I'd have preferred to be able to use the hosted blog to kick off with that, indeed I don't really see another option so I'll either be setting up an entirely new hosted blog, or resurrecting the original one. I say "I" but my Uncle will be doing all the heavy lifting and I'll be watching and learning.

I'm in the throes of the Google Appeal system at the moment because Im trying to set up an AdSense account and have had no success with that endeavour. I originally tried to use the aforementioned hosted blog but the site wasn't compliant for reasons which were not entirely borne out.

I'm not sure what else I can tell you, other than that the recent CloudForce event in London was not attended by myself which I'm really quite gutted about. I was going to have to cut my travelling arrangements very fine and had even paid for it when events beyond my control forced me to call it off so yeah, very disappointed about that.

Since I was last here the Samsung Galaxy SIII has been launched and is actually now on sale but it's going to be a while before I can get my grubby little hands on one. That is a state of affairs which I'm not happy about at all but not one that I can change anytime soon unfortunately.

I've kicked off a new regime for my mornings and early afternoons anyway and I'm having quite a bit of success at sticking to it. It helps that I'm actually quite interested in Excel, which I try to spend at least an hour a day learning new skills and formula on, as well as Google Analytics, stuff for my Business Studies A2 and a lot of stuff on Marketing.

So that is a very brief synopsis of some of the events of the last 32 days or so. I will be back here before long as this may well end up being the main place I blog from for quite some time, depending on the mission to restore the blog and my search for a stable but affordable host.

Next time.

Harry Potter, Pain Relief & Pedestrian Attacks

Diagram of a painful shoulder injury
Ouch!

This is just a very quick post to, keep my hand in so to speak, cos my current exercise is to work on tone of voice. I think I'd have to describe my success so far as moderate at best. I don't really have much volume to compare at the moment, so I guess we'll see.

Well the period since my last post here has been interesting to say the least. I've been pretty busy and I'm quietly pleased with some of the progress I've made. I'm still looking for some graft and a lot of my efforts have centered around that, which is no bad thing, believe me.

My days are quite regimented to be honest, between brushing up on my Excel and HTML skills on a morning and trying to stay focused on the things I need to stay capable at for work. I'm trying to use different blogs for different stuff so I'm not going too deep here at all, at least I hope not anyway!

I'm in a lot of pain and subsequently Pain Relief has been necessary so I hope I'm not rambling too much. I suffered a Pedestrian Attack the other day whilst on the bike and when the guy stepped in my path I chose a dismount rather than hitting him. I was kinda trying to protect the bike as much as the guy or myself cos I was going at quite a lick, so I suppose mission accomplished on that metric as the bike and the guy are just fine. My shoulder on the other hand is Foxtrot Uniform in a serious way. The rotator cuff I injured ages ago and I've been slacking on my rehab so now I have an injury which my eldest daughter Gen, (an avid Harry Potter fan), agrees sounds like something the young wizard himself might utter to dispel some particularly vile adversary.

I'll live anyway and will definitely be hitting the physio hard when the time comes. At the moment I'm in a sling and despite looking decidedly Not On Branch, I'm persevering with it cos I know rest is important and I didn't really do that previously with the other injury.

So that's my excuse for not sticking around longer since I'm actually in a very bad and uncomfortable position in order to write this. There's not much to tell anyway. The weather is miserable, wettest drought in history and all, I can't really use the gym and I've not got either of the kids so am feeling thoroughly sorry for myself. Trust me, my whingeing you do not want to hear so count yourselves lucky I'm getting myself off.

If you've recently found this blog of mine well here's another great blog. It's called My Do's & Doings and is penned by a mate. It's not just cos he's a mate I say it's very good, it genuinely is and you should check out.

Me, Myself & the Search for Terrestrial Intelligence

It's a Quick Response code which goes to my other blog, Relevant Social Media UK
You know you wanna!

Hey people, Greetings from Stringa!

So it's almost a third of the way through the year and I'd totally forgotten that I lost my previous incarnation of this blog - hence "Another Day in the Lift" - but have been so busy, sometimes doing nothing, that this has been neglected somewhat!

A lot of my time is taken up by my usual blogging home here: http://relevantsocialmedia.co.uk/ which is where I attempt to be very serious and urbane on matters relating to technology, social media, my HTML inadequacies etc., whereas on here I plan to be a little more relaxed. However you should still check out my most recent post over there cos it's pretty good, but then I would say that wouldn't I? It's all about my first full impression of the Ice Cream Sandwich version of the brilliant Android OS.

Suffice it to say that I'll make sure I'm on here as much as possible from here on in. I actually like the look of the new Blogger, remember checking it out months ago but I'm so busy with other projects and general day to day life it kind of got away from me. It's still a shock though, to realise that I've not been on here at all. There are so many exciting things going on in my life and in the world, even just the world of Google, right now, I could probably talk for an hour easy. Now isn't the time though, but I'm currently feeling a lot of love for (and indeed from) Google+, ICS, Chrome, Chrome for Android (except lack of Flash support) and, most recently Google Currents. Just too much to cover right now and you can see I'm exhibiting some severe Geek cross over here so brevity and levity huh?

This is meant to be a very quick post just to introduce myself anyway and I really must go as I'm not even multi tasking at the moment, (9 browser tabs open, radio on & also my phone in my hand more time for calls, texts and social networks), I'm just swamping myself and productivity is about 60% at best.

So that's me for right now, I promise to get back on here as soon as possible and also to keep it as interesting as possible. Peace!

P.S. For that one person wondering about my mockney rhyming slang; it's Stringa Beads, Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!

I want one of these signed shirts!
